My journey from competing at the highest levels of MMA and BJJ to building Crosstrain Fight Club and launching 191 Nutrition has only reinforced my belief that health isn’t a short-term goal—it’s a way of life. Discipline, resilience, and consistency in training have shaped not just my physical abilities but also my mindset and approach to business. Whether coaching future champions or developing high-performance nutrition, my philosophy remains the same: take care of your body, push your limits, and success will follow.

    MMA is both physically and mentally demanding. What are some key wellness practices you follow to maintain peak performance?

    For me, performance is an obsession—it’s what drives everything I do, from training world-class fighters to starting 191 Nutrition. Competing at the highest level of MMA and BJJ taught me that training hard isn’t enough; recovery is just as important. I focus heavily on optimizing recovery to maintain peak performance. That means sleeping at least 8 hours every night, ensuring my body has time to repair and recharge. I also take essential supplements like magnesium, zinc, curcumin, glucosamine for joint health, and multivitamins like B12 and D3 to keep my immune system strong and prevent any dips in performance. For active recovery, I mix things up—I run, walk, do yoga, climb, play tennis, and lift weights. These activities keep my body moving without overloading it. Make it a fundamental part of your identity, not something you “try to fit in.” Start small but stay consistent. Pick something sustainable—whether it’s lifting, running, BJJ, or even just daily walks. Show up, even on days you don’t feel like it. And focus on long-term progress, not quick fixes. Fitness is a lifelong commitment, not a 30-day challenge. Also, prioritize recovery and nutrition. Train hard, but sleep well, eat clean, and supplement smartly.     As someone who has trained top athletes, what are the most common mistakes men make when it comes to nutrition and supplementation?

    One of the biggest mistakes I see men make with nutrition and supplementation is chasing quick fixes instead of focusing on fundamentals. They’ll spend thousands on the latest “super supplement” but ignore basic things like eating real food, sleeping well, and staying hydrated.

    Here are some of the most common mistakes:

    1. Neglecting foundational supplements – Everyone wants a magic pill, but they ignore essentials like magnesium, zinc, curcumin, glucosamine for joints, and vitamins like B12 and D3. These aren’t flashy, but they’re crucial for long-term health and performance.

    Stress management is a huge part of overall wellness. How do you balance intense training, business, and personal life while staying mentally strong?

    The only way to balance intense training, multiple businesses (Crosstrain Fight Club, ADCC India, AJP India, 191 Nutrition), and personal life without burning out is by building strong teams, structures, and systems. I used to think I could do everything myself, but as responsibilities grew, I realized that high performance isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing the right things efficiently. That means:

    A. Building a solid team – I surround myself with people I trust—coaches, managers, and business partners—who share my vision and can execute at a high level. I don’t micromanage; I empower them to take ownership.

    B. Creating systems that run without me – Every business I run has clear processes, structures, and workflows in place. Whether it’s training athletes, running competitions, or developing nutrition products, everything follows a structured system so it doesn’t rely on me being hands-on 24/7.

    C. Prioritizing what matters – I’ve learned to focus on high-impact tasks and delegate the rest. If something isn’t contributing to growth, performance, or well-being, I cut it out.

    D. Training is non-negotiable – No matter how busy things get, I never compromise on training. It keeps me mentally sharp and physically ready to perform at my best.

    E. Recovery & mental resets – I make time for sleep, active recovery (running, yoga, walking, lifting), and proper nutrition so I can sustain this pace long-term.     You’ve trained over 5,000 women in self-defense. Why do you think men should also take an active role in promoting women’s safety and empowerment?

    Ever since I was a child, I was taught at home that the way you treat a woman says everything about your character. Real men don’t hurt women—they protect, respect, and honor them. This belief was deeply ingrained in me, and it was further reinforced during my time at The Doon School in Dehradun, where values like respect, responsibility, and leadership were an essential part of our upbringing. Having trained over 5,000 women in self-defense, I’ve seen firsthand how empowering them with the right skills transforms their confidence, mindset, and sense of security. But the truth is, women’s safety is not just a women’s issue—it’s a societal issue, and men have a critical role to play in changing things. Men need to take an active role in setting the standard for respect. The way we behave, speak, and interact with women influences the culture around us. If we normalize accountability and respect, we create an environment where mistreatment isn’t tolerated. Strength should never be used to dominate—it should be used to defend. A real man understands that power isn’t about control; it’s about protection. Beyond that, men need to educate and influence the next generation. Young boys need role models who demonstrate how to treat women with dignity. Whether it’s at home, in schools, or in gyms, men must take responsibility for shaping a culture that values respect over aggression. Supporting women’s empowerment isn’t just about teaching them self-defense—it’s about building a world where they feel safe, heard, and valued. That means speaking up when we see disrespect, advocating for equal opportunities, and ensuring that women can thrive without fear.     What are three daily habits you believe every man should incorporate for a healthier and more balanced lifestyle?

    If you want a healthier and more balanced life, you don’t need to complicate things. It all comes down to discipline, consistency, and taking care of your mind and body. There are three simple habits that I believe every man should incorporate into his daily routine:

    First, move every single day. It doesn’t have to be an intense workout, but your body was built to move. Whether it’s lifting weights, running, walking, playing a sport, or training martial arts, daily movement keeps you strong, energized, and mentally sharp. When you stay physically active, you build resilience—not just in your body, but in your mind. Second, eat clean and treat your food as fuel. Your body is a machine, and what you put into it determines how well it performs. Prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods and avoid excessive processed junk. Stay hydrated, get enough protein, and take essential supplements like magnesium, zinc, curcumin, glucosamine, and vitamins like B12 and D3 to keep your body functioning at its best.     Looking back on your journey, what has been the most fulfilling moment in your career so far?

    Looking back on my journey, there have been many milestones that I’m proud of—becoming India’s first 10-time national champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the first Indian to earn a competition Black Belt in BJJ, a 4-time world champion, and coaching India’s first Road to UFC winner, Anshul Jubli. These achievements were all incredible moments, but if you ask me what I’m most proud of, it’s something much deeper than titles and trophies. The greatest achievement of my career is coaching women who have used their BJJ and MMA training to defend themselves in real-life situations. Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing someone I’ve trained use their skills to protect themselves when it truly mattered. One story that stands out is of a former student who was attacked by a cab driver. She had trained with us for a while, and one night, while taking a cab home, the driver tried to assault her. Instead of panicking, she reacted instantly—she locked in a triangle choke, put the driver to sleep, and escaped unharmed. That moment proved to me that what we do at Crosstrain Fight Club is more than just a sport—it’s about giving people the ability to protect themselves, to take control in dangerous situations, and to walk through life with confidence. Titles and records come and go, but empowering people—especially women—to fight back and stand up for themselves is something that will always mean the most to me.

    What’s next for 191 Nutrition? Do you have plans to expand the product line or venture into other areas of wellness?

    At 191 Nutrition, we are just getting started. While our current product line focuses on performance, recovery, and overall health, the next phase is about taking men’s wellness to the next level. We don’t just want to help men train harder—we want to help them look, feel, and perform at their absolute best in every aspect of life.

    Going forward, we are expanding into hair, skin, and testosterone optimization, as these are crucial but often overlooked areas of men’s health.     What inspired you to pursue music at such a young age? 

    Music has always been a part of who I am. Growing up in a musical family, I was constantly surrounded by melodies, and I think that naturally shaped my love for it. But beyond that, I’ve always felt a deep connection to music—it’s the best way I know to express emotions. I started training in Hindustani classical music when I was four, and there was never a doubt in my mind that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. 

    Coming from a musical family, did you always feel destined for this career, or did you have other interests growing up? 

    It was always music for me. I never really had phases where I wanted to do something else—it’s been my passion for as long as I can remember. From my childhood, I knew that singing, performing, and creating music was what made me happiest, and I never questioned it.

    Your music spans multiple genres and languages. How do you adapt your style when switching between them? 

    For me, music is a universal language, and I love exploring different styles. Every genre, every language has its own essence, and I focus on understanding that before recording. Whether it’s a Hindi ballad, an English pop track, or a Telugu melody, my goal is always to do justice to the song and its emotions. Listening to different kinds of music and constantly learning helps me stay adaptable. 

    What’s the most challenging song you’ve ever recorded and why? 

    Honestly, every song comes with its own challenges. Some require a lot of emotional depth, while others are technically demanding. I wouldn’t say one song was more difficult than the other because they all need an equal amount of practice, precision, and vocal control. The key is to understand what the song demands and deliver it in the best possible way. 

    With constant travel, performances, and studio sessions, how do you ensure a healthy work-life balance? 

    It’s not always easy, but I make sure to take out time for myself and my loved ones. Even in a packed schedule, I try to maintain a balance so that I don’t burn out. Sometimes, that just means switching off for a bit, listening to music without thinking of work, or having a quiet moment to recharge. 

    As a singer, your voice is your biggest asset. What wellness practices do you follow to keep your vocal health in top shape? 

    Staying hydrated is the most important thing for me—I drink a lot of warm water throughout the day. I also do vocal warm-ups and breathing exercises regularly. I avoid dairy and cold drinks before performances, and I make sure to rest my voice when needed. Sleep is also super important for vocal health, so I try to get enough of it despite my schedule. 

    What is your approach to grooming and self-care? Do you follow any skincare or grooming rituals? 

    I like to keep it simple—good skincare, staying hydrated, and maintaining a routine that works for me. I believe self-care isn’t just about grooming but also about feeling good from within. When you feel good internally, it naturally reflects on the outside. 

    How does your personal style impact your confidence and stage presence? 

    My style is a big part of how I present myself, both on and off stage. It’s all about comfort and confidence. I prefer outfits that enhance my personality without overpowering the performance. Whether it’s a sharp, well-fitted jacket or a more casual look, I like to wear things that make me feel good and allow me to move freely on stage. 

    Do you follow any specific habits or mindset practices that help you stay motivated and productive?

Inspired by my father’s travels across India, every dish on the menu, every artifact in the space, and every design element reflects the depth and diversity of Indian culture.

     

    Globally, Indian cuisine has often been limited to certain stereotypes, but at Colonel Saab, we wanted to showcase its true essence—regional flavors, royal traditions, and the artistry behind every dish. Similarly, Indian art and craftsmanship have always been revered, yet underrepresented in modern luxury dining. By weaving history, flavors, and artistry together, our goal was to redefine how the world experiences Indian hospitality, making it as refined, elegant, and multifaceted as the culture itself.

     

    Colonel Saab is inspired by your father’s travel stories. Can you share a special memory or story that shaped the restaurant’s concept?

    My father, Colonel Manbeer Choudhary, served in the Indian Army, earning the honorific title ‘Colonel Saab.’ His postings took our family across India, immersing us in the country’s diverse cultures, flavors, and traditions. We dined with royal families in Rajasthan, where age-old recipes were passed down through generations, offering a glimpse into regal culinary heritage. One of my most prized acquisitions is prominent art by Vivek Nimonkar, a masterpiece that beautifully captures the essence of continuity, tradition, and the human connection with nature. I also treasure an exquisite work of tribal art by Anushree Chakraborty, which reflects the raw, unfiltered storytelling of indigenous communities.

     

    Beyond paintings, I have been fortunate to acquire extraordinary pieces of heritage craftsmanship. A Cocktail Bar by Asprey, originally commissioned by the Maharaja of Patiala, is a remarkable symbol of royal indulgence and bespoke luxury. The Baccarat decanters made for the Faridkot royal family and Mappin & Webb hand-painted dinner sets, created exclusively for an erstwhile royal family, are exquisite examples of European artistry blending with Indian regal elegance.

We are exploring opportunities to introduce immersive Indian hospitality experiences beyond traditional destinations, ensuring that the essence of our culture resonates worldwide.

In fact, many of the lessons I’ve learned from running directly apply to leadership. The first is fanatic discipline—the commitment to staying consistent, no matter the circumstances. Whether in athletics or business, results come from relentless effort and discipline over time.

    The second is creative empiricism—focusing on the process rather than just the end goal. In a marathon, you don’t fixate on the finish line from the start; you pay attention to the present—listening to your body, knowing when to hydrate, and making adjustments. Leadership works the same way. Success isn’t about chasing an endpoint; it’s about making data-driven decisions every day and refining your strategy as you go.

    The third is productive paranoia—always preparing for risks and uncertainties. Just like marathon training requires injury prevention, strength training, and recovery, business success demands a strong margin of safety. In our industry, which is B2B, our growth is linked to our customers’ growth. So if we aim for 100, we plan for 200—building resilience into our strategy to withstand uncertainties.

    Ultimately, whether in running or business, these three principles—fanatic discipline, creative empiricism, and productive paranoia—guide my approach to leadership.

    How do you foster a culture of innovation at iBUS?

    Innovation, by its very nature, is error-prone. If everything we do is perfect, it likely means we haven’t pushed ourselves hard enough. At iBUS, we cultivate a culture where failure isn’t just accepted—it’s seen as an essential part of progress. True innovation happens when people are encouraged to experiment, take risks, and push boundaries.

    Beyond fostering a risk-taking mindset, we emphasize discipline and consistency over sheer work hours. It’s not about working 80 or 100 hours a week; it’s about building a routine and sticking to it. Whether someone starts their day at 9:15 or 10:15, what matters most is their commitment to showing up consistently and delivering results.

    What are the biggest challenges in 5G convergence, and how does iBUS plan to tackle them?

    The telecom industry is a highly regulated, closed-loop system dominated by a few global players who control most of the technology patents. This creates significant barriers to breakthrough innovation and limits openness within the ecosystem.

    In India, the market is essentially a duopoly, with a few large players leading the space. With limited competition, there is often little incentive for rapid adoption of new technologies. The dominant approach is to mirror each other rather than drive disruptive change, which slows overall industry progress.

    However, we see this challenge as an opportunity. The industry’s slow adoption of emerging technologies has led to inefficiencies, and by leveraging advancements in technology and rethinking traditional business models, we believe we can unlock significant value. Our approach is straightforward: prioritize the value equation—focus on delivering solutions that maximize efficiency and create tangible benefits for our customers.

    By staying agile, embracing innovation, and challenging the status quo, we aim to overcome these barriers and drive meaningful change in the 5G convergence space in the years ahead.

    How has your global business experience influenced your approach to India’s digital infrastructure market?

    My global experience has been invaluable, especially as India has increasingly aligned with international business practices. Today, concepts like ESG, anti-corruption laws, and global compliance standards are not just understood but actively embraced in the Indian market. This shift has made it easier to integrate best practices from around the world into our operations.

    In the digital infrastructure space—an industry that remains highly regulated and fragmented—global exposure provides a significant advantage. It helps us stay ahead of the curve in areas like reporting, quality, and compliance. Unlike other sectors, this industry still lacks large-scale players, which is precisely where we see an opportunity—to consolidate and drive efficiencies at scale. 

    Looking at global tech giants, some of whom have market capitalizations exceeding the GDPs of entire nations, it’s clear that scale is the key to long-term success. By applying global insights and leveraging India’s unique market dynamics, we aim to build a truly transformative digital infrastructure ecosystem.

    How does Mark Twain’s quote—‘History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes’—shape your leadership?

    I like this phrase because it captures a balanced approach to growth, leadership, and decision-making. The first part reminds us not to assume that just because something happened before, it will happen the same way again. The second part acknowledges that patterns do emerge, and we can learn from them.

    For instance, in telecom, the adoption of 4G had its own pace and challenges. 5G won’t follow the exact same trajectory, but there will be similarities in market cycles, regulatory hurdles, and adoption patterns. The key is to not get too anchored to the past while remaining open to extracting valuable lessons.

    What does your Ironman training routine look like, and how do you stay mentally committed?

    Training for an Ironman is all about discipline—you have to be fanatical about it. But as amateur athletes balancing demanding work schedules, travel, and daily responsibilities, it’s not always easy to stay on track.

    There are days when I miss sessions due to work or travel. For example, if I return home late at night, waking up at 5 AM for training becomes unrealistic. My coach provides a structured daily calendar, and my goal is to hit the smileys (indicating completed sessions). If I miss one, I work with my support team to adjust and catch up.

    One of the key motivators for me is what I call a ‘social contract.’ I openly tell people—colleagues, friends, and even you—that I’m training for an Ironman. Once I declare it, people naturally check in and ask about my progress, creating a positive pressure that keeps me accountable. This external push reinforces my commitment and keeps me going.

    Having completed 15 marathons, how has running shaped your mindset in business and life?

    A marathon is not a sprint—you have to be extremely patient, disciplined, and prepared for pain. After the first few kilometers, you’re running on physical strength. But as fatigue sets in, it becomes a mental battle. Towards the end, you’re running purely on hope and sheer willpower.

    There’s a moment in every marathon when you ask yourself, ‘Why am I doing this? I’ll never do it again.’ But the moment you cross the finish line, that thought flips—you feel an incredible high and immediately start thinking about the next one. That cycle of struggle, doubt, and eventual triumph keeps repeating itself.

    It’s the same in business. You push through tough challenges, deal with setbacks, and at times feel like giving up. But once you achieve a breakthrough, you’re ready to take on the next challenge. That resilience—embracing the struggle and coming back for more—is what both marathons and business are all about.

    At 64, you continue pushing boundaries in business and fitness. What advice do you have for others?

    These days, staying active at 60 and beyond isn’t extraordinary—it’s almost expected! At events like the Mumbai Marathon, you see so many people of my vintage participating. The real question now isn’t ‘How are you still doing it?’ but rather, ‘Why aren’t you doing it yet?’

    For me, maintaining a healthy work-life balance isn’t about biological age but about fitness age. At 64, I want to feel like I’m 35—full of energy and enthusiasm. When you’re fit, everything improves. You’re in a better mood, more pleasant with colleagues and family, and life just feels more enjoyable. On the other hand, neglecting your health affects your mood, relationships, and even your work.

    Fitness also instills discipline.I sleep by 9:30 PM, wake up early, and use my mornings productively. Running is my choice, but the key takeaway is to find what keeps you active, happy, and energized. That’s the real game-changer.

    Which books have significantly influenced your leadership and thinking?

    I’m a voracious reader, and many books have significantly shaped my thinking and leadership philosophy. Jim Collins’ Good to Great is one I often revisit for its insights on leadership and business excellence. Peter Thiel’s Zero to One offers fascinating perspectives on innovation and startups, which I deeply appreciate.

    Beyond business, I find great wisdom in the Mahabharata, particularly the teachings of Sanatsujata and Viduraniti, which I’m currently exploring further. Michael Mandel’s perspectives also resonate with me. These books and ideas continue to influence how I think, lead, and make decisions.

    Beyond iBUS, what future goals excite you in business, fitness, or personal growth?

    I already feel like I’m in retirement because, to me, work is fun. Post-retirement is supposed to be about enjoying what you do, and that’s exactly how I see business.

    Looking ahead, I see myself continuing to stay involved in business in some capacity. One area I’m particularly curious about is launching a hedge fund—something I might explore in the future.

    On the fitness front, I’ll keep running and also plan to get back into golf.

    For personal development, I always enjoy learning new things. A colleague recently suggested taking up juggling, so I’m waiting to enroll in a class. I’ve also attempted singing, though many have rejected my efforts—but I still have hope!

    You’ve been in the entertainment industry for years. What inspired you to pursue acting and modeling?

    I never initially planned to be an actor—I wanted to be in the industry but on the creative side. I started with modeling, and my love for acting grew gradually. It wasn’t love at first sight, but over time, I fell for the craft of performing. What keeps me going is my passion for it. Every time I step on set, I treat it like a fun experience, something I truly enjoy, and I’m fortunate to get paid for doing what I love.

    What was the biggest challenge you faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?

    Patience. In any career, waiting for the right opportunities is tough. Fortunately, I have a sportsman’s mindset—I’m confident, I go for what I want, and I have patience. At times, I even feel lazy in the process, but I know patience is key to achieving the best work.

    Many people admire your journey. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to those struggling to make it in the industry?

    I’m grateful for the admiration, as I, too, look up to so many people in this industry. My advice is simple: only pursue this path if you truly love it. But also, balance passion with security. Many get so blinded by the craft that they forget to secure themselves. I kept my first job as a cabin crew even while modeling, only committing fully when I was sure. Love what you do, but don’t dive in blindly—balance is everything.

    Looking back, was there a defining moment in your career that changed everything for you?

    There have been several defining moments. Stepping into television was a major shift when my films hadn’t released. Winning Nach Baliye and venturing into dance, trying comedy in F.I.R., and later moving to OTT to explore myself as an actor were all pivotal. Even before acting, transitioning from my airline job to modeling was a big leap. Each step forward has shaped my journey.

    If you weren’t an actor, what other career path would you have taken and why?

    If not an actor, I could have been many things—a director, a cinematographer, or even a captain, as many of my airline colleagues pursued commercial pilot licenses. I also have a good understanding of business, so I could have ventured into real estate or entrepreneurship. But acting gives you something beyond money—the love and admiration of people, which is priceless. With so many aspiring actors, I feel truly blessed to be where I am today.

    As our audience knows, fitness is a big part of an actor’s life. What’s your workout routine like?

    Fitness has always been a priority for me. I love food, especially sweets and desserts, but in the past five to six months, I’ve cut back significantly on maida and sugar, and it’s made a huge difference in my body and routine. I enjoy working out and playing sports, which helps me stay fit. I prefer a lean, healthy body over bulky muscles, and I’ve always maintained that. My philosophy is simple—don’t go by what people say about your body, go by how your clothes fit. My measurements have stayed the same for over 15-20 years, and that consistency keeps me in check.

    How do you maintain a balanced diet while managing a hectic shooting schedule? Does being an actor ever require you to bring a drastic change into your diet?

    I’ve been lucky to have a fast metabolism, but recently, I’ve made changes—mainly cutting down on sugar and processed foods, and it’s made a huge impact. Even with a hectic schedule, I make sure to eat four to five small, healthy meals a day. In fact, when I’m shooting, my diet is at its best because everything is planned. I don’t believe in taking unnecessary supplements—I never have. The key is to keep things simple: eat right, stay active, and maintain consistency.

    Mental health is just as important as physical fitness. How do you deal with stress and pressure in the industry?

    Mental health is everything, especially in this industry, where uncertainty is constant. A show can shut down overnight, a project can fall through at the last minute—you have to be mentally prepared for anything. My approach is to focus on happiness. No matter what happens, I don’t let it affect my peace of mind. At the end of the day, if you’re happy, you can handle anything.

    What’s one fitness myth that you think people should stop believing?

    A major myth is that cutting carbs completely or skipping meals helps with fitness. That’s completely wrong. Your body needs a balanced diet—carbs, proteins, fats, and even some natural sugars. If you starve yourself, you’ll lose muscle, look weak, and feel exhausted. The key is to eat the right quantity, have three to four small meals a day, and stay active. A healthy body is about balance, not extreme diets.

    Do you have any morning or nighttime rituals that help you stay focused and energized?

    My morning routine is great, but my night routine needs improvement—I sleep too late. In the morning, I start with warm water and kalonji (black seeds) soaked overnight, as well as methi dana pani which helps with bloating. I also have fruits and coconut water to stay hydrated and energized. While my mornings are well-structured, I definitely need to work on sleeping earlier at night.

    You’ve been in both television and films. What’s the biggest difference between working in these two mediums? How does the audience differ?

    Television, OTT, and films are completely different mediums, each with its own demands. Television is like a full-time job—you’re on set 22 to 28 days a month, shooting daily. On the other hand, OTT and films offer more creative liberty. You get the script in advance, allowing time for preparation, character development, and experimentation.

    However, television is excellent training—it teaches discipline, adaptability, and consistency. But I’ve also learned that when transitioning to OTT or films, you need to unlearn certain habits. TV performances can become predictable because of the daily routine, whereas in OTT and films, unpredictability is key. You need to surprise yourself to surprise the audience.

    As for the audience, TV has a loyal, long-term viewership, often family-oriented. OTT caters to a more niche, experimental audience that enjoys diverse content. Films have a larger-than-life appeal, where the audience expects grandeur and spectacle.

    Fashion plays a big role in the entertainment industry. How would you describe your personal style?

    I have a very casual approach to fashion. Even at events, I prefer a relaxed, effortless look. My style is heavily influenced by streetwear—I love comfortable yet stylish outfits that don’t feel overdone. Sneakers are a big part of my wardrobe; I absolutely love them. Even during shoots, my brief to my stylist is always “dressy but casual”—a mix of sharp and laid-back.

    Who are some actors or industry figures that inspire you, and why?

    There are so many! From childhood, I’ve been a huge Amitabh Bachchan fan. I still remember watching Agneepath in theaters for the first time—when he buttoned his coat and delivered that legendary dialogue, people started throwing coins, and that moment stuck with me. He’s been my idol ever since.

    During my growing-up years, the three Khans—Shah Rukh, Salman, and Aamir—were also a huge inspiration. But honestly, every few years, there’s a new actor or performance that leaves a mark. Our industry is evolving constantly, and I find inspiration in the sheer talent around me.

    In an era of social media, do you feel pressure to maintain a certain image online? How do you handle it?

    Social media has become a huge part of our lives, but I don’t let it dictate mine. I know a lot of people who leverage it to build their brand and make money, which is great. Back in the day, the industry had only 20-25 TV stars at any given time. Now, thanks to social media, so many young talents are getting a platform to showcase their work.

    Some content is amazing, some is cringy, but at the end of the day, everyone is doing their thing, and I respect that. Personally, I don’t take any pressure to follow trends. If you look at my social media, it’s just me—no forced trends, no over-the-top gimmicks. I keep it cool, fun, and authentic to who I am.

    If you could collaborate with any director or actor in the future, who would it be and why?

    There are too many to name! The industry is evolving so fast, and every year, new filmmakers and actors are redefining cinema. Thanks to OTT, we’re seeing incredible storytelling and performances across different genres. My greed as an actor has only grown—I want to work with as many talented people as possible, both veterans and newcomers.

    I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with some amazing directors like Hansal Mehta, Suparna Verma, and Jay Mehta. Hansal sir’s Scam 1992 was a game-changer, and his son also produced Scoop, which I was a part of. I just want to keep working with filmmakers who challenge the norms and bring fresh perspectives to storytelling.

As the Director of the Indian School of Ethical Hacking (ISOEH), he has not only contributed to strengthening cybersecurity defenses but has also mentored the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. In this exclusive Q&A, he shares his journey, insights, and advice for aspiring ethical hackers.

    Having a 26-year career in cybersecurity across multiple countries, what initially drew you to this field?

    It all started with curiosity and, to be honest, a bit of mischief. A friend and I worked on a project together, but when it was time to share the final file, he refused. That was enough motivation for me to figure out how to access it on my own. After some trial and error, I succeeded, and that experience opened my eyes to the vast world of cybersecurity.

    Cybersecurity is constantly evolving. How do you keep yourself ahead of the curve?

    I make it a point to study every single day. The moment you stop learning in this field, you fall behind. Cyber threats are always evolving, and so must we. That’s why, even now, I’ve enrolled in an LLB program. Understanding the legal side of cybersecurity is just as important as the technical aspects.

    Have you ever faced a major professional setback? How did you overcome it?

    I don’t believe in setbacks—only lessons. Life is all about ups and downs, but every challenge teaches you something valuable. If you view obstacles as opportunities for growth rather than failures, you’ll never truly experience what people call a “setback.”

    What has been the most thrilling or unexpected experience in your work with law enforcement on cybercrime cases?

    There have been many, but a few stand out. Being part of the Pegasus inquiry team was a significant experience, as was assisting the police during cyber raids. I’ve also had the privilege of conducting cybersecurity audits for organizations like ONGC, the Bangladesh national data center, PWC, ITC, and IIT Kharagpur. But one of the most rewarding experiences has been mentoring students who are now in top positions across the industry. Seeing them succeed is one of the greatest rewards of my career.

    If you had to give one piece of advice to young professionals looking to build a career in ethical hacking, what would it be?

    Start with the basics—Wikipedia is your best friend. Then move to YouTube, where you can find endless resources to sharpen your skills. Once you have a strong foundation, pursue global certifications like CCNA, CEH, and OSCP.

    most knowledge is for free if you know where to look for it. If you’re truly passionate and enough internet-savvy, you can learn almost everything without spending any money.

    Since you have a demanding schedule, how do you ensure you stay physically and mentally fit?

    I keep things simple. I don’t take stress. Stress is terrible for your progress. Also, eat healthy, do light exercise, and unwind with movies. No matter how busy my day is, I make sure I’m in bed by 12 midnight everyday anyhow. 

    Working in cybersecurity means long hours in front of screens. Do you have any wellness habits to counteract the negative effects?

    Yes, and I wish I had been more aware about it earlier. Staring at screens for long hours has affected my eyesight, my eyes hurt a lot. which is something I’m actively trying to manage by looking at distant objects from time to time to reduce eye strain. But I admit—this  still is a big concern for me right now. 

    A field revolving around cybercrime can be intense and high-pressure. What strategies do you use to manage stress and maintain mental clarity?

    I firmly believe that stress is a result of being inactive. If you complete your work on time, there’s no reason to feel overwhelmed. I’ve always been disciplined about time management, and that has helped me handle pressure without feeling burned out.

    Do you have a morning or nighttime routine that helps you stay focused and productive?

    Yes. I make sure I never stay up beyond midnight, no matter how busy I am. Waking up early and having a structured day keeps me productive.

    What role does fitness or physical activity play in your life? Do you follow any specific workout or sport?

    Fitness is extremely important for growth but here’s the truth for my life—80% of health is controlled by what you eat, and only 20% by exercise. I’m very disciplined about my diet and make sure  I do light exercise regularly. 

    As the Director of ISOEH, what’s your vision for the future of ethical hacking education in India?

    The way people learn is changing in current times. In the future, education will be free. People will no longer be judged by certificates but, by their skills. The internet has democratised knowledge by a good lot. and those who know how to leverage it will definitely thrive.

    You’ve worked with major corporations like PWC, KPMG, and Tata Steel. What’s one leadership lesson you’ve learned from working with such industry giants?

    Three things—be process-oriented, define clear Key Result Areas (KRA) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and most importantly, be disciplined. That’s the foundation of leadership.

    AI is disrupting many industries, including cybersecurity. What are your thoughts on the intersection of AI and cyber threats?

    AI is both a powerful tool and a potential threat. One of the most alarming developments is deep-fake technology, which can be used for highly sophisticated cyber crimes.

    But here’s something even more concerning—a robot in China recently “kidnapped” 12 other robots without human intervention. If AI can communicate and act independently, we are looking at a future where machines could become the dominant species. It’s a scenario that cybersecurity experts need to prepare for.

The sportswear industry will not be just about apparel but a larger ecosystem that includes footwear, nutrition, and coaching.     As a CEO of a sportswear company, how do you integrate fitness into your lifestyle?

    Being in the activewear industry, I make it a point to test our products personally. We also foster a fitness-centric culture at TechnoSport, regularly organizing sports events like cricket and football tournaments. I actively participate in these, which keeps me engaged and ensures that we truly stand by the lifestyle we promote.

    What is something you wish you could tell your 20-year-old self?

    I would tell my younger self to explore entrepreneurship much earlier. While my career at Myntra and now at TechnoSport has given me a hybrid experience, I believe I could have taken more risks earlier to build something of my own.

    How do you balance being a CEO with your personal life?

    I believe when you are building something meaningful, your work and personal life often intertwine. Instead of focusing on rigid work hours, I focus on impact and results. Building a high-performing, motivated team allows me to maintain balance and efficiency.

    Absolutely. Today, fashion is more individualistic than ever. Men are embracing styles, colors, and trends that were once considered unconventional. This evolution is creating a more diverse and dynamic fashion landscape.

    What’s your life’s mantra?

    Finish work efficiently to create time for yourself. Productivity and teamwork go hand in hand, so I believe in building a strong team that allows for both personal and professional growth.

    What’s your best advice for maintaining productivity?

    Hire people who are smarter than you. Find what personally fuels your motivation, and most importantly, be in the right role—if you are not engaged in your work, productivity will naturally suffer.

    How do you envision the future of TechnoSport and your role in it?

    At TechnoSport, we aim to bring high-quality activewear technology to millions of Indians at an affordable price. We are also looking at global expansion. My role as CEO is to drive innovation and make fitness technology accessible to all.

    What diet and health care principles do you follow?

    I stick to two major meals a day—healthy home-cooked food for lunch and an early dinner. I also practice intermittent fasting but balance it with enjoying good food while traveling or socializing.

    How do you keep a check on your mental well-being?

    I recognize the signs of burnout—irritability, fatigue, and disturbed sleep. Whenever I sense these, I take a break, even if it’s just for a short while. Taking a step back helps me reset and come back with a fresh perspective.

    A few of my favorites are The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz, Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.

    Losing my father due to a lack of funds for a life-saving liver transplant left a lasting impact on me. Experiencing the pain of being unable to afford necessary medical treatment for a loved one was devastating. It motivated me to create a solution that would help others avoid such hardships. I truly understand this problem on a personal level, which drives me to build something meaningful for people in similar situations.

    What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when starting QONECT?

    The biggest challenge was figuring out where to start, especially when it came to raising funds. Facing rejection after rejection was disheartening, and building a scalable, sustainable, and investor-worthy business felt overwhelming. However, by learning from our mistakes and staying persistent, we eventually built a foundation we are proud of.

    How do QONECT’s services empower marginalized communities?

    Our services empower marginalized communities by providing access to formal credit, which breaks the cycle of “no loan, no credit history.” By building their credit scores, they can eventually access low-interest loans in the future. Micro-insurance protects them financially during medical emergencies or hospitalizations, and access to emergency funds ensures they can seek timely medical care without hesitation, avoiding high-interest loans from private lenders.

    How does QONECT leverage technology to make financial security accessible?

    Technology enables us to bring credit and insurance services directly to underserved, remote areas. Processes like user onboarding, credit underwriting, and issuing insurance policies can now be done within minutes. However, our target segment often struggles with digital literacy, so we prioritize awareness campaigns alongside tech solutions. Continuous development of technology to meet their needs is crucial, though we face resource constraints in achieving this.

    How does QONECT build and maintain trust with its users?

    Building trust is one of our biggest challenges. We rely heavily on word-of-mouth referrals, testimonial videos, and endorsements from local community leaders and prominent figures to establish credibility and strengthen relationships with our users.

    Can you share a success story where QONECT made a significant difference?

    Yes! We helped Mr. Lianlal save ₹23,000 during his son’s head surgery at Shija Hospital in Imphal. More recently, we assisted Mr. Biaklian from Shillong by covering the costs needed for his wife Moite’s delivery, allowing them to welcome their beautiful baby boy.

    What obstacles have you faced in scaling QONECT, and how are you addressing them?

    Scaling a socially driven business comes with resource limitations, especially in a violence-affected region like ours, where potential investments are depleted. Additionally, finding lenders willing to offer loans to people in Northeast India is challenging. We are addressing this through persistence, partnerships, and innovative financial solutions.

    What leadership values do you believe are essential for driving meaningful change?

    Empathy to understand and address community needs, integrity to build trust, resilience to overcome challenges, and collaboration to amplify impact are essential for leading meaningful change in the social impact space.

    How do you balance running a growing business with maintaining personal well-being?

    Honestly, I am still struggling to find the right balance. It’s an ongoing challenge, and I’m constantly learning and seeking ways to manage both effectively.

    Where do you see QONECT in the next five to ten years?

    My primary focus is to make QONECT sustainable, with or without my presence. I aspire to expand our services across India and build a strong foundation for long-term impact.
