Quick and Satisfying Indian Poha Breakfast Recipe

Are you craving a fulfilling and delicious Indian breakfast that's a breeze to prepare? Look no further than Poha! Whether it's for breakfast or a snack, poha is a beloved dish that's cherished for its well-balanced flavors and simple cooking process. You might initially think that making poha is a complex task, especially when you need to soak the flattened rice flakes. However, rest assured that it's much simpler than it sounds. So why wait any longer? Let's dive into this delightful dish:

Ingredients:

  • Poha

  • Clean water

  • Onion

  • Green chili

  • Potato

  • Peanuts

  • Oil

  • Mustard seeds

  • Cumin seeds

  • Turmeric

  • Salt

  • Red chili powder

  • Lemon

Instructions:

  1. Begin by thoroughly washing the poha with water and allowing it to drain completely. Meanwhile, chop the onion, green chili, potato, and lemon.

  2. Heat a pan with one tablespoon of oil, then add the peanuts. You can also opt to microwave the peanuts for roasting. Once the peanuts are nicely roasted, remove them from the pan and use the same pan for the next steps.

  3. Add one and a half tablespoons of oil to the pan and introduce the cumin and mustard seeds. Let them sizzle, and then add the chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté them until the onions turn golden brown, then add the potato pieces.

  4. Cover the pan and let it cook until the potatoes become soft. Add turmeric, salt, and red chili powder, and mix them well. Now, introduce the soaked poha into the mixture. Stir and blend everything thoroughly, then cover the pan for a minute.

  5. Finally, add the roasted peanuts and a pinch of sugar for that delightful taste. Your poha is now ready to be enjoyed. To enhance the flavors, add lemon juice according to your preference.

Poha is a delightful Indian breakfast that's not only filling but also a treat for your taste buds. Its simplicity of preparation makes it a must-try for anyone seeking a satisfying morning meal or a quick snack. So, why not whip up a batch of poha and savor its wonderful flavors today?
